This is a sequel to this post I did earlier this year. It was fun when I went through the scenes for S1, so I thought I’d do a rewind of the season and go through the new soundtrack, too.
Includes big and small scenes between them. There are a few scenes that don’t have any music played in the background, so they weren’t added to the list (ex. Start of episode 2 in the classroom, the scenes on the stairs in episodes 7 and 11, Makoto pulling Haru out of the tub in episode 13).
*Rhythm of port town// Episode 1 // The parallel scene to S1EP1 where Makoto pulls Haru out of the tub and they go through their morning routine. This is the same track that was used in the original scene as well.
Maybe someday// Episode 2 // Haru and Makoto go for a jog at night. This is the first time Makoto tries to bring up the question of what Haru wants to do in the future.
Dive to the future// Episode 3 // The race against the other clubs, aka the ‘like two bodies in perfect harmony’ scene.
A beautiful day// Episode 3 // Makoto keeps Haru from going into the pool and mentions how he wants to enter a freestyle event since it’s his last year, which catches Haru by surprise.
A beautiful day// Episode 6 // Haru staring at Makoto, worried about the upcoming race between them.
**Always together// Episode 6 // The flashback scene where Makoto asks Haru to join the swim club with him and Makoto lets Haru have the dolphin key-chain.
***Best friend// Episode 6 // Played before the start of Haru and Makoto’s race.
***My future, your future// Episode 6 // Played during the start of the flashback where Makoto asks Haru to take their race seriously and lasts until the very end of their race where Haru is relieved he didn’t hurt Makoto.
Overflowing// Episode 6 // Makoto explains to Nagisa why he wanted to race Haru and how it may be because he was jealous of Rin.
*Cute relationship// Episode 8 // Haru thinks back on Kisumi taking Makoto away and despite saying he’d only visit Makoto at the swim club if he had time, shows up with Makoto’s lunch anyway.
A beautiful day// Episode 8 // Haru and Makoto walking along the beach at night. Makoto isn’t sure on how he can help Hayato with his fear and Haru helps guide Makoto on how he is able to help him.
*Great nostalgia// Episode 8 // Haru brings the twins to Makoto’s last day of volunteering and watches as Makoto works with the kids.
Maybe someday// Episode 9 // Makoto asks if Haru is okay before the races.
Be true to myself// Episode 10 / Episode 11 Preview // ‘Unchanging sky. Unchanging ocean.’ It may only be in the preview, but it’s one of my favorite tracks from the soundtrack.
Maybe someday// Episode 11 // Haru and Makoto walk home from school and plan to go watch the fireworks with Nagisa and Rei.
Only for you// Episode 11 // Haru and Makoto’s first fight.
Swim for my dream// Episode 13 // Haru returns from Australia and Makoto welcomes him home with a smile, aka the ‘okaeri, tadaima’ scene.
Step to hope// Episode 13 // Haru and Makoto make up and Makoto discusses his dream with Haru, who has faith in him that he’ll make it come true.
Eternal blue// Episode 13 // The relay scene where Makoto pulls Haru out of the pool for the last time.
Clear Blue Departure// Episode 13 // The ending credits, which features Haru and Makoto’s new life in Tokyo.

**A different arrangement of ‘I need you’. This song has two parts and I tried to differentiate them but couldn’t tell the difference, so I just put the part 1 version up.

What in the world could Makoto be fighting
against? What could he have dreamed up, in the water, in his heart? What
should he do to release Makoto from that suffering? Would Haruka…… have
the strength for that? Would he be capable of it? Though he doesn’t
even understand anything about himself……
A lukewarm wind blowing, it passed by while making waves in Haruka’s heart that were poised between sorrow and unease.
T/N: No matter what happens, Makoto is and will always be the one constant in his life that Haru wants to keep and treasure forever… I personally see the water reflecting the moonlight as a metaphor for Haru being touched by Makoto’s light _(:3 」∠)_ What do you think?
